From the moment you arrive, the water is your backdrop. Both cottages sit right on Isis Lake, so you can wander out onto the decking with a cup of tea and be watching the water within seconds. The lake attracts a wide variety of birdlife throughout the year, and it’s easy to while away an hour or two by just noticing who drops by.

You’ll often see ducks gliding past, swans cruising across the shallows and smaller visiting birds flitting along the reed beds. Early mornings and evenings are particularly peaceful, with the lake often at its stillest and the birds at their busiest. Many guests tell us that these quiet, everyday moments become their favourite memories of the week.

Unhurried Waterside Walks

The Isis & Windrush Lakes development is perfect for gentle pottering. You can stroll straight from the cottage along the lakeside paths, stopping to watch the water, spot wildlife or simply sit on a bench and do very little at all. There’s a real sense of space here, with long views across the water and plenty of fresh air.

If you feel like stretching your legs a little further, there are longer walks around the wider Cotswold Water Park, taking in more lakes, meadows and open countryside. It’s easy to tailor things to your energy levels – from a short loop before breakfast to a lazy afternoon wander with plenty of pauses along the way.

Slow Days, Simple Pleasures

Staying at Nyhavn or Norhavn lends itself to a slower rhythm. Mornings often start on the decking, watching the first ripples on the lake. Daytimes might be a mix of pottering about outside, reading a book with the doors open, or taking a slow walk to see what wildlife is about.
